Michael does research in High Performance Computing, Mechanical Engineering and Computing in Mathematics, Natural Science, Engineering and Medicine, and Theory of Science. His current project is 'Scalable HPC.'

報(bào)告摘要The lectures on “Simulation on Supercomputers” will cover three aspects that will be addressed in one lecture each. First we will go into the concept of computer simulation. We will focus on basic requirements and skills. We will address the potential and the short-comings of computer simulation. We will look into the challenges that require the usage of supercomputers. In the second part we will focus on supercomputer hardware. We will address basic concepts. We will look into the impact of hardware features on performance of supercomputers. We will discuss most recent concepts of supercomputing hardware. In the third part we look into programming of supercomputers. We will address the concept of parallelism. We will look into core concepts of parallel programming like MPI and OpenMP. We will look into the impact of programming concepts on performance but will also address single node performance issues.
